Your Trusted Asphalt Team in South Riviera
Two decades of working with asphalt
Posted on Chao G.Verified Bay Cities Paving completed a new parking project for a self-service laundromat in Wilmington. The quality of the parking work was very good and many of the road damages were repaired. Many customers praised the work after seeing it. We sincerely thank them for their work.Posted on Alex S.Verified We are an HOA in Dana Point, Ca. Recently, we had Bay Cities re-seal our streets. They did a great job. On time starting their work, polite workers and very approachable. They were not the lowest of our 6 bids, but the best value for money. If a company gives you a price that is much lower than the others, beware. There must be a reason for it. And read the fine print. When a company says, "to remove up to 2 inches of asphalt to fix cracks", it sound good. But, when you think about it, that could mean just an of an inch, which will allow a crack to reappear in 6 months. Our neighboring HOA did exactly that and are now regretting it. Thank you Alan of Bay Cities Paving. We are happy to share our experience with othersPosted on Lisa D.Verified Alan and his team are great to work with, and do excellent work. They are also fast and very responsive. I cannot say enough nice things about them. I have used them a couple of times over the years and will continue to do so. Very pleased! Thank you BCP!Posted on diana k.Verified Cannot say enough great things about Alan, Michelle and their team. The team resealed a 40 year old driveway for my mom. From the very first interaction to ask for a quote, the team was fast, responsive and professional. Their quote was by far the best value but also the most detailed as far as the competition. Michelle was so communicative on text, phone, and email. They sent over copies of their business license, workers comp, and a contract. I had full faith in them from the first conversation and they did not disappoint. Thank you!Posted on Sami A.Verified BCP repaved the parking lots of two of our commercial properties. When the work didn't quite turn out as we expected, Alan was extremely responsive and willing to redo a portion of it. He was fantastic to work with as he is flexible and was able to exceed our expectations. We will definitely be calling him again when the need arises!Posted on Ken G.Verified We hired Bay Cities Paving to regrade a difficult spot outside of a commercial property we own in Torrance. We've had flooding problems there for years, and another paver had failed to fix the problem before. Bay Cities did a great job and even with all the rain we've just had, no flooding! Water is now running off toward the drain, as it should. In addition to doing good work, Alan was responsive, attentive, prompt and courteous. Will be using them again for other projects, for sure.Posted on Adriana P.Verified Bay Cities Paving recoated our business's parking lot and patio along with a resurface. Alan and the team are professional, quick to respond and did a fabulous job. Friendly, communicative and great prices! We were given a proper quote with full details and all information pertaining to the company with terms and conditions along with references. They were able to schedule the work soon after and everything was done well and in the time quoted. I highly recommend using them as we surely will again here at Baur Films, Inc!Posted on Robin M.Verified So happy we went with Bay City Paving to do the driveway for our rental. An awesome job and a great guy! Alan is a great personality! So personable, we feel like we've known him forever! But what I really like is that he's so professional! The scope of work is detailed and also shows license, insurance, Etc. Very detailed information and I LOVE that when it comes to any construction job. Thanks Alan, we are both happy with finished driveway and sure our tenant will be also, when he returns from his Coast Guard duties. Go with Bay City Paving Inc. You'll be happy you did!!!!!Posted on Marlon W.Verified I must say...Bay City Paving is great! I must say I shopped around quite a bit. Alan is very informative. No pressure. Let alone came down to provide me with a free estimate in a timely matter. 1-2 days lead time, while others took over a week just to respond. We have an automotive repair shop that needed a new 2 post lift. Alan and his crew work quick with no time to spare. One day job. Got us in the following week. If not same week. Let alone are these guys great. I needed a bit more work. With no hesitation. The guys took care of me. No question asked. They went the extra mile without charging me a dime. Thanks again Alan and his crew. I am your customer for life!Posted on Barry H.Verified If I could give 6 stars, I would. My project was repair of some large cracks and heaving of a sloped driveway. I got 4 estimates. BCP was in the middle as to price. BCP's estimate however was the most complete and thorough document I've ever seen for this type of thing. The estimate went over exactly what was to be done, but also went into great detail about things that might be found during the job which would require an increased cost. Alan noted that when they got into the job, the old cement and rebar was much thicker than expected and required different equipment to remove. The job was completed the next day and the final cost was exactly the estimate cost. Job crew were wonderful and I would use them again for any work in the future. I give them my highest recommendation without reservation!

Your Trusted Asphalt Team in South Riviera
South Riviera is one of those neighborhoods where everything just fits together nicely. You’ve got tree lined streets, well kept homes, and that perfect blend of residential calm mixed with easy access to everything you need. Located right between Lomita and Torrance, this area sees plenty of sunshine year round, which is great for the weather but not always so great for your driveway or parking lot.
That California sun can really do a number on asphalt surfaces. Add in the regular traffic along Western Avenue and the side streets that connect to Pacific Coast Highway, and you start seeing cracks, fading, and those annoying potholes that seem to appear out of nowhere. Whether you’re a homeowner with a driveway that’s seen better days or a business owner along Del Amo Boulevard dealing with a parking lot that needs attention, having a reliable asphalt contractor in Lomita makes all the difference.
People around here take pride in their properties. And honestly, your driveway or parking area is one of the first things anyone notices. That’s where we come in.
About Bay Cities Paving
Bay Cities Paving has been serving South Riviera and the surrounding Lomita and Torrance communities for over 30 years. We’re a family owned business that started right here in the South Bay, so we know these streets like the back of our hand. Our main focus? Quality asphalt work that actually lasts.
We handle everything from fresh asphalt paving to repairs, sealcoating, and even complete parking lot resurfacing. But that’s not all we do. Sometimes a paving project needs a bit more work before we can lay down that smooth new surface. That’s why we also offer demolition services, excavation work, construction support, and junk removal. If your old driveway needs to be torn out first, or if there’s some grading work required, we’ve got the equipment and the crew to handle it start to finish.
When you work with us in South Riviera, you’re getting a team that shows up on time, communicates clearly, and treats your property with respect. No surprises, no runarounds. Just solid work done right.
What We Do in South Riviera
The projects we tackle around South Riviera vary quite a bit. Some weeks we’re repaving a residential driveway near Lomita Park that’s been cracked and uneven for years. Other times we’re working on commercial parking lots for businesses along Western Avenue or handling repairs for apartment complexes in the area.
One thing we see a lot? Sun damage. That intense California heat breaks down asphalt over time, causing it to crack and fade. We also get calls about drainage issues, especially after those rare but heavy winter rains we get. Poor drainage can really wreck a driveway fast.
Here’s what some of our neighbors have said about working with us:
“They repaved our driveway in two days and it looks fantastic. The crew was friendly and cleaned up everything when they finished.” Homeowner near Pacific Coast Highway
“Bay Cities Paving handled our apartment complex parking lot and made the whole process easy. Fair price, good work, no hassle.” Property manager in South Riviera
Our team is licensed, insured, and trained to handle both residential and commercial projects. We follow all local regulations and safety standards because that’s just how you’re supposed to do business. Plus, we make sure our equipment is well maintained and our crew knows what they’re doing. Experience matters in this line of work.
Serving Your Neighborhood
We serve the entire South Riviera area and the surrounding neighborhoods throughout Lomita and Torrance. Whether you’re near Western Avenue, close to Del Amo Boulevard, or tucked away on one of the quieter residential streets near Rolling Hills, we come to you.
Our service area covers all of South Riviera and extends throughout Lomita, reaching into Torrance, Harbor City, and even down toward the Palos Verdes Peninsula when needed. We know the local streets, the traffic patterns, and the best times to schedule work so we’re not blocking your driveway during your busiest hours.
Been around here long enough that we probably know your street. And if we don’t, we’ll figure it out real quick. You can find our service area coverage for South Riviera and surrounding neighborhoods.
Things to Know About Paving in South Riviera
Every neighborhood has its quirks, and South Riviera is no different. Here are a few things we keep in mind when working in your area:
Parking can get tight on some of the residential streets, especially during weekday mornings and evenings. We plan our equipment staging carefully and always make sure we’re not blocking your neighbors or creating traffic issues.
Weather timing matters. Summer heat is intense around here, which is actually ideal for asphalt work since the material sets up beautifully. But we avoid scheduling during the hottest part of the day if possible. Nobody wants their crew working in 95 degree heat if we can help it.
Local regulations in Lomita and Torrance are pretty straightforward, but certain projects do require permits. We handle all that paperwork for you so you don’t have to worry about it. If permits are needed, we pull them. Simple as that.
Cleanup is important in a neighborhood like this where people care about how things look. We always leave your property cleaner than we found it. Sweeping, hauling away debris, making sure no materials are left behind.
What we promise is pretty simple.
Good materials. Experienced crews who know what they’re doing. Work that meets or beats local standards every time. We’re licensed and insured because that’s table stakes. We follow safety protocols because people’s wellbeing matters. And if something’s not right? We fix it. No runaround, no excuses.
People tell us they appreciate how we communicate. That we show up on time. That our pricing makes sense without being the cheapest or the most expensive. We’re just… fair. And consistent.
We also try to give back when we can. Local schools need sponsors. Youth sports teams need jerseys. Neighborhood projects need help. It’s part of living and working here. We’re not just taking from this community, we’re part of it.
That’s really what it comes down to. Trust gets built over time, through a lot of small decisions made right. Thirty years later, people still call us. That says something.
Why People Trust Bay Cities Paving
Look, thirty years in business around the South Bay doesn’t just happen. You don’t stick around that long unless you’re doing something right. We’ve built our reputation one driveway at a time, one parking lot at a time. Showing up when we say we will. Doing the work properly. Standing behind it when we’re done.
Here’s the thing about being a local family business. We’re not some huge corporation where you become account number 47592. When you call, you get real people who actually care about your project. Our name is on the truck. Our reputation is on the line every single day. That matters to us.
The asphalt industry has changed a lot over the years. You’ve probably noticed major companies buying up paving operations left and right across California. Nothing wrong with that, but it’s not us. We like being local. We like knowing our customers by name. And honestly, we think that shows in the quality of our work.

Questions People Ask About Asphalt Services in South Riviera
Do you handle jobs in tight or busy areas of South Riviera?
All the time. Tight driveways, crowded parking lots, narrow alleys, you name it. Our crew has worked in every kind of space you can imagine. We’ve done parking lot paving in spots where you’d think there’s no way to get equipment in there, but we make it work. Experience helps. A lot of driveway companies or paving contractors won’t even attempt some of these jobs, but that’s kind of our specialty.
How fast can you provide asphalt paving services in South Riviera?
Depends on what you need, honestly. Most residential driveways? We can knock those out in one to two days once we start. Commercial stuff like parking lot paving takes longer because there’s just more area to cover. For emergency repairs, we usually get there within a day or two. We know that when your driveway or parking lot is torn up, you need it fixed fast. Unlike some paving companies in my area, we don’t make you wait three weeks to even get on the schedule.
Do you work near Pacific Coast Highway and Del Amo Boulevard?
Yep, we work all over South Riviera. PCH, Del Amo, Western Avenue, all the residential streets in between. After 30 years as one of the local paving companies serving Los Angeles County, we know these roads better than most people know their own neighborhood. Traffic patterns, best times to work, all of it. That local knowledge makes a difference when you’re coordinating asphalt paving projects.
How do you handle parking and access during the work?
We talk through all that stuff before we even start. For driveways, we usually work in sections so you’re not completely blocked in. For bigger jobs like parking lot paving, we coordinate timing with you. Maybe we work at night or on weekends when your lot isn’t busy. We communicate with neighbors too if our equipment affects street parking. Good asphalt paving contractors think through the logistics, not just the actual paving part.
Do you offer same day or next day service in South Riviera?
For urgent repairs, yeah, we can usually get someone out there within 24 to 48 hours. Potholes, big cracks, drainage problems, that kind of thing. New installation projects need more planning though. We’re not like some driveway sealer companies that just show up and slap something down. Quality asphalt paving takes proper prep work. But we move faster than most local asphalt companies. Usually can start your project within a week or so.
What types of asphalt projects do you do in this area?
Pretty much everything related to asphalt and concrete infrastructure. Residential driveways are probably our most common job. But we also do commercial parking lot paving, private roads, repairs, sealcoating, patching, complete resurfacing. Sometimes we’re tearing out old concrete to put in new asphalt. Other times we’re doing asphalt paving & sealcoating for an asphalt maintenance company or property management group. We handle the whole scope, including demolition and excavation if your project needs it.
Is sealcoating really necessary in this climate?
Short answer? Yes. The asphalt industry will tell you sealcoating is optional, but here in Southern California with our brutal sun exposure, it’s really not. UV rays break down asphalt faster than almost anything else. Sealcoating acts like sunscreen for your driveway or parking lot. Keeps cracks from spreading, stops water infiltration during rainy season, makes the surface last years longer. Most asphalt driveway company experts recommend sealing every two to three years. It’s way cheaper than replacing the whole thing.
Do you handle drainage issues too?
Absolutely. Drainage is critical for any asphalt paving project. We see this all the time. Water pools on driveways, runs toward foundations, causes all kinds of problems. Some paving companies just lay asphalt and call it done, but that’s not how paving experts actually work. We look at grading, we install drainage solutions if needed, we make sure water goes where it’s supposed to. A lot of times drainage problems are why people need asphalt paving services in the first place.
What makes you different from other asphalt paving companies?
Honestly? We just care more. Sounds simple, but it’s true. We’re not trying to be the biggest asphalt company in the county or win awards for marketing. We’re trying to do solid work for our neighbors. You can find cheaper pavers out there for sure. You can also find more expensive ones. We’re somewhere in the middle, focused on quality that actually lasts. After three decades, we’re still here because we treat people right and stand behind our work. That’s really it.
Do you work with both residential and commercial clients?
Yeah, we handle both. Homeowners call us for driveway work. Property managers call us for parking lot paving. Business owners call us when their asphalt needs repair. We’ve worked with everyone from single family homes to big apartment complexes to retail centers. Some of the road paving companies around here only do commercial work, but we like the variety. Keeps things interesting. Plus, the skills translate. Good asphalt paving is good asphalt paving whether it’s a driveway or a parking lot.
